The Baraat is the procession of the groom. Before the ceremony begins and before anyone gets to the Mandap (the place of the ceremony) the groom's guests bring the groom to the bride's family. They don't just walk him there, they party and dance their way there! The groom follows them all on a horse.
The Hindu ceremony is steeped in rituals established by Vedic literature. The ceremony can be long...but look on the bright side...you get ice cream! and lunch is served afterwards.
